The Photo Lane uses the services of SmugMug.com (see Photo Galleries) and Acclaim Images (see Links page) for providing professional prints, posters, and photo gift items. Hundreds of choices are available on these sites.

If you would like a print of an image not displayed at either of these sites , just send us a Print Request identifying the particular photographs you would like to have printed.

If you find a stock image you would like to license, you may order electronic images directly from us by submitting a Price Quote Request. After an agreement is reached on quantities and price, and payment is received, the electronic images you select will be promptly delivered to you by whatever method you choose... e-mail, download from web site, FTP, postal mail of CD, etc.

To search the collections of images we have listed with stock photo agencies and immediately license and download files, you can click on one the stock photo agencies on the Links page. Agencies where our images are listed include Alamy, Acclaim Images, Citizen Image, and myLoupe .

Only samples of available photographs are shown on the web. If you do not find what you want in the samples displayed, please submit a Photo Search Request and we will be happy to search our entire image inventory and let you know what images we have on the subject.

For purchases directly from the The Photo Lane we offer safe, secure and fast on line payment solutions. Payment transactions can be processed using a SSL server maintained by 2Checkout.com (2CO) in Columbus, Ohio. 2Checkout was established in 1999 and currently provides e-commerce solutions for The Photo Lane and thousands of business customers around the world. 2Checkout accepts checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Dinners, JCB and debit cards with the Visa and MasterCard logo. All derivatives of these brands are also supported. In addition, 2CO will also accept Electronic Check Drafts (also known as ACH or Digital Checks) and FXSource - Direct electronic funds transfer service. After your payment is processed by 2Checkout, your order will be promptly fulfilled by The Photo Lane.

We do try hard to be flexible to our customer’s needs though. If you wish to use other payment methods, such as a company purchase order, check, money order, PayPal, etc. just let us know.

Low resolution (1 megapixels) and high resolution (4 megapixels) electronic files for many of the images in the photo galleries may be purchased and downloaded directly on the SmugMug gallery web pages for personal use only.

For electronic images purchased directly from The Photo Lane the electronic images can be obtained in a low resolution (72 dpi)/small file size format or in high resolution (300 dpi)/large file size formats. The 72 dpi, low-resolution images are good for web sites, on-line viewing, presentations, or other multimedia. The 300 dpi high-resolution images are ideal for printing and publication.

The original size for the high-resolution images are 3008 x 2000 pixels (6 megapixels). Most of the images have been originally captured by the digital camera as Nikon RAW files (NEF) and then corrected for brightness and color balance using Nikon Capture NX or Adobe Photoshop image editing software to improve presentation and print quality . All the images are available as RGB color images in compressed JPEG. The quality of the compressed JPEG images are excellent, but uncompressed TIFF formats are also available if you require maximum image quality.

If you require different dimensions or larger sizes, we do have the capability to resize or enlarge images with practically no loss of resolution by using state-of-the-art fractal imaging software, so please let us know.

For selection of delivery modes, or other special requests such as larger image sizes, different image file formats, extended licenses, etc. be sure to include this information in your Price Quote Request. The Photo Lane will attempt to the best of our abilities to provide the services your need.

Orders are generally processed within twenty four hours, except on weekends or holidays. Please e-mail us at customerservice@thephotolane.com if time is a concern.

For image delivery, purchased images are generally e-mailed, or downloaded from a web site, depending on your preference. However, if you purchase several images and would like to have them shipped on CD-ROM instead, just let us know (see details below).

CD-ROM delivery: Each CD-ROM can generally accommodate 20-600 multiple images depending upon resolution and formats of the image files. The delivery charge within the United States for each CD-ROM is $30 (

U.S.

) and it will be shipped to you via USPS Priority Mail within 24 hours of your order. Delivery time is generally 3 days or less. If delivery is to be made outside the

United States

we will provide a quote to you for the shipping costs.

The Photo Lane images are primarily “Rights Managed” (licensed for limited, one-time use), but some are offered as “Royalty Free” (licensed for unlimited use).

Copyright

All the images offered by The Photo Lane are originals and the property of the photographer, Jim Lane. Please place a credit line (Jim Lane/The Photo Lane) or copyright notice (such as © 2007 Jim Lane or Copyright 2007 Jim Lane) in at least 8 point Arial type on the printed or electronic page that includes the licensed image so that others will know that it is a licensed and protected image. Editorial use of our images in magazines, newspapers and books requires a credit line or copyright notice.

License Agreement

The terms and condition of the license agreement for the use of The Photo Lane images are set forth below.

Please read this license agreement carefully. By placing an order for an image from The Photo Lane you will be agreeing to be bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement for each image you select.

Unless otherwise negotiated and agreed to in writing, The Photo Lane grants you the non-exclusive right to use the image you have selected based upon the following terms:

For “Rights Managed” images: The license used in a publication or display print is for a one-time use. The license for an image used on a web page or other electronic media is for one year of use. You may not use the image or any portions of the image for another purpose. If you license an image and later decide to use it for a longer period, for another production run, or in another category of use, you must pay the license fee for the new or additional usage.

For “Royalty Free” images: The license used in a publication, display print, web page, or other electronic media is for unlimited use with no expiration date.

For all image licenses: You may not use the image in any manner that is defamatory, pornographic, or in violation of any applicable laws. You may not transfer or assign this license to a third party. You may not make copies, either digital or printed, of the image for the purpose of re-licensing or selling rights to the image to others. You must ensure that the copyright notice is prominently displayed with each image.

The Photo Lane warrants that it has the right to grant this license to you, and that any required model releases have been obtained unless you are otherwise informed. Your sole and exclusive remedy for a breach of these warranties is a refund of the price you paid to The Photo Lane to license the image. The Photo Lane makes no other warranty, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall The Photo Lane or the photographer, Jim Lane, be liable for any damages for loss of profits, business interruption, loss of information, or any other monetary loss arising out of the use of, or inability to use any image licensed under this agreement.

This license constitutes the entire agreement between you and The Photo Lane concerning the license any all images you select. All rights to the images are owned by The Photo Lane and the photographer, Jim Lane. All rights not expressly granted by this agreement are retained by The Photo Lane and Jim Lane. These rights are protected by United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions. This license will terminate immediately and automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of the terms and conditions of this license agreement.

This agreement is effective as of the date you place an order and make payment in full.
